Our first post!

The Fauta blog was created to help those looking to purchase Okinawan music, an easy, clickable way to find what they're looking for. Artists will be categorized by genre, called "Labels" here, and we'll try to have a profile of the artist or at the very least, a link to a Wikipedia article for the artist.

The format we'll use is the artist's name for the title of each post and for the body of the post we'll include (as listed in the iTunes Store):
  1. Album Title
  2. Released
  3. Total Tracks
  4. Genre
Links will open iTunes and we're only focusing on the United States store at this time.

About the word fauta: the wonderful Okinawan-English Wordbook by Mitsugu Sakihara and published by University of HawaiĘ»i Press, has its definition as "fa-uta, n. [hauta] A popular song; a ballad; a ditty."

About Fauta's author: Richie is the admin over at Karakui.com, an English-language blog dedicated to the pop culture of Okinawa.

As this is a labor of love, we welcome any links you can provide us with and we'll credit your name as the source of the link if you wish. (We may already know about the artist but haven't gotten to posting an entry here so be sure to check out Karakui.com's Listing of Artists on iTunes page before emailing us.)

Nifee Deebitan,
Richie
